70’s Bangs are Making a Comeback as Chandelier Layers

The famous Farrah Fawcett hairstyle is back, only this time, it’s called chandelier layers with more of a focus on the shaggy texture and a little less flick than the original version. The side-swept curtain bangs and face-framing layered waves are back and are one of 2020’s biggest hair trends.

If you have medium or long hair and are looking for a refresh this look is a great option. It allows you to keep your length and increase the natural movement and texture. The added bonus, the messier, the better. Your Yazbek stylist will shape your winged layers to scoop around your cheekbones and add a shaggy texture from the chin down.

Chandelier layers look best with a dishevelled messy part in the centre. If your part is too neat or too straight it will contrast the softer elements of the layers and sweeping bangs. To recreate the look at home, we can guide you on the best approach to styling based on your hair texture. If your hair has a natural wave you may be able to let it dry naturally and scrunch in a product like Aveda’s “Be Curly”. If your hair needs help with movement, you can use a large barrel curling tong to shape the face-framing pieces. We will show you the best angle to hold your tong/wand so the styling works with the shape of the haircut.

This trend is being lit up by the influencers of Instagram, which is a refreshing change of direction and a noticeable shift in behaviour as consumers no longer have a focus on magazine trend forecasts.

The look has been embraced by Chloë Grace Moretz, who wears the messy layers at shoulder length with a centre parting and curtain bangs.
